Call for Papers
The AISB convention 2007 will host eight symposia. The deadline for submitting papers has been extended to 22 January 2007 unless stated otherwise in the corresponding call for papers. The suggested style for formatting papers is the ECAI format, available as a PDF or a TeX style. Submissions should be sent to the symposium chairs unless stated otherwise in the corresponding call for papers.

Call for Symposium Proposals (closed)
(A plain text and a PDF versions of the call are also available.)
The Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and Simulation of Behaviour (AISB) is pleased to announce its forthcoming convention to be held at Newcastle University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, 2-5 April 2007. The AISB convention is an annual event organised as a number of collocated symposia interspersed with invited plenary talks. In addition to symposia related to the theme of the convention, proposals are welcomed in all areas relating to AI and cognitive science. The theme of this year's convention is:
Artificial and Ambient Intelligence
Ambient Intelligence (also known as Ubiquitous or Pervasive Computing) is an emerging research area that has received much attention in recent years. As a field it is concerned with the implications of embedding computing devices into the environment, and with how human and artificial agents can make use of and interact in such technological contexts. Many of the key research issues in Ambient Intelligence can benefit from AI methods, and research into the application of artificial intelligence in this field is likely to further advance AI.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Intelligent environments
- Computer vision in ambient intelligent and mobile systems
- Natural language processing in ambient intelligent and mobile systems
- Representation and reasoning in ambient intelligent and mobile systems
- Affective computing for ambient intelligent systems
- Learning for ambient intelligent and mobile systems
- Autonomous and autonomic systems
- Intelligent user interfaces for mobile computing
- Cognitive systems for ambient intelligence
- Modelling, acquiring and reasoning about context
- Resource adaptation
- Agency and trust in ubiquitous systems
- Distributed reasoning
- Ontology sharing
We particularly invite proposals for one- or two-day symposia on topics covering issues in Ambient Intelligence research but would like to emphasise that submissions from ALL areas relating to AI and cognitive science will be welcomed. The deadline for symposium proposals is:
August 1st, 2006 (closed)
Submissions should consist of a short (one page) case for support describing the relevance of the symposium (and including a justification for the proposed length of one or two days), and a preliminary call for papers.
Please send proposals (and any questions) to both chairs:
We are looking forward to your submission.
