Project Description:

The Computational Sciences and Engineering Division at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks candidate for postdoctoral position to see and explore future concepts in the analysis of large text and image corpra. This will require a good understanding of several key research areas, such as composite correlation filters, automated target recognition, and general image analysis techniques. A successful candidate will have the ability to quickly understand a sponsors need, translate this into a research question and hypothesis, create experiments and prototype software to evaluate the new research concepts, present the research to the sponsor, publish the results at top conferences and journals, secure and increase funding in your research areas, and to collaborate with renowned experts in your field.

Qualifications:

The position requires a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Initial appointment is for one year. Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment. This position is available immediately and applications will be accepted until position is filled.

Included in these new facilities are the Laboratory for Comparative and Functional Genomics, the Nanoscience Center, the Advanced Microscopy Laboratory, the Office of Sciences Leadership Computing Facility for unclassified high-performance computing, and the state-funded joint institutes for computational sciences, biological sciences, and neutron sciences.
