Call for Papers for the International Workshop on Dynamic Software Evolution (DSE)

Collocated with: Coordination/DisCoTec 2007, Paphos, Cyprus

Organizers: Gnter Kniesel, Oscar Nierstrasz, Manuel Oriol
Website: http://se.inf.ethz.ch/~moriol/DSE

Important Dates:
April 10, 2007: Submission of Papers
May 3, 2007: Notification of acceptance
June 5, 2007: Workshop

Papers Formats:
DSE 2007 accepts two different types of papers: position papers (max. 6 pages) and full papers (max. 12 pages). Both types of submissions should be formatted in LNCS format.

Description:
Making programs evolve at runtime is considered to be a difficult task by most programmers. To help them, techniques, tools and languages are constantly designed and refined by the research community. These mechanisms can take a wide number of forms as they can address different types of dynamic evolution:
     - program evolution
     - data evolution
     - distributed application evolution

The international workshop on Dynamic Software Evolution (DSE 2007) aims at gathering the dynamic evolution community to provide a forum for lively discussion and exchanges. One of the achievements of the workshop would be to initiate collaborations between specialists of the domain of dynamic software evolution. The articles will be reviewed by an international committee and attendance to the workshop will be by invitation only based on the submissions. Authors of the best articles will be invited to submit an extended version for post- proceedings publication (still to be determined).

Topics include but are not limited to:

    Dynamic Evolution Challenges:
      - evolution of code
      - evolution of data (transient and persistent)
      - evolution of computation state
      - distributed evolution
      - management of evolution

    Dynamic Evolution Technologies:
     - component platforms
     - middleware infrastructures
     - language constructs/mechanisms
     - execution environments / virtual machines
     - dynamic library mechanisms
     - patterns for dynamic evolution

     Dynamic Evolution Evaluation and Experience
     - experience reports on dynamic evolution
     - challenging scenarios for dynamic evolution
     - quantitative and qualitative assessments of evolution techniques

Presentation of new technologies and evaluation of technologies should
clearly identify the evolution challenges that they address.
