Post: Senior Scientist in Remote Sensing at Aarhus University.
Senior Scientist, Remote Sensing, spatial analysis and GIS The Department of Agroecology and Environment at Aarhus Universitet is currently involved in research, development and application in remote sensing and GIS, with particular focus on classification, landscape modelling and mapping in GIS, estimation and time series analysis of optical image data, the analysis of Light Detection And Ranging data (LiDAR), and the development of field technologies. There is currently eight professional staff in Remote Sensing or GIS in the Department (www.agrsci.au.dk/jpm). The Department wishes to appoint a Senior Scientist in the area of Remote Sensing, GIS and spatial analysis. The successful applicant will join the research group for GEO-data and Spatial Analysis in the Department of Agroecology and Environment, contributing to the development and conduct of research and teaching activities in the group. As a member of this research the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to: Remote sensing based land-use and soil classification, e.g developing of a soil-carbon map. As a result of The Kyoto Agreement, the department is involved in a number of projects focusing on assessment of land use and the soil-carbon stock in Denmark. Regional analyses and digital terrain modelling LiDAR-based digital terrain models and landscape level models for matter and energy flows are major issues at the department. This involves research into algorithms used for efficient modelling of different aspects of surface run-off processes and nutrient cycling, geomorphologic studies, and photogrammetry. International publication and the initiation of new research and education programmes The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences is a new faculty at the University of Aarhus. Reseach in GIS and remote sensing is a focus area, and at present we are in process of constructing a full educational programme. The following are considered key qualifications of the successful applicant: A good C.V. including relevant publications and a Ph.D. degree or similar qualifications. Documented research experience within the relevant scientific area, and experience with project applications and project leadership - preferable from international funds. Documented experience with remote sensing / GIS / computer modelling / programming. Besides the specific qualifications the successful applicant should have a keen interest in: Teaching at university level Interdisciplinary research and decision support Capability to communicate at all levels Quantitative and qualitative data handling Master oral and written English Place of work: The place of work is until further notice the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Agroecology and Environment, Blichers Allé 20, 8830 Tjele, Denmark.
