Proposal to amend the Constitution of the Society.

Please read along with the full constitution at http://www.aisb.org.uk/constitution

The Committee of AISB proposes to amend the Society's Constitution as follows, in order to
modernise our procedures and enhance opportunities for members to take an active part in the
running of the Society:

1. Section 3.1: replace "votes submitted by post" with "votes submitted by post or electronically"
2. Section 5.4: replace "postal ballots" with "postal or electronic ballots"
3. Section 6.3 replace "no more than thirteen elected members" with "no more than sixteen elected members"
4. Section 6.6: replace "postal ballot" with "postal or electronic ballot"
5. Section 6.7: replace "two clear months" with "one clear month"
6. Section 6.8: replace "No co-opted committee member may serve for more than three years without
being elected" with "Co-opted members serve terms of up to three years, which may be renewed at
the discretion of the Committee"
7. Section 6.9: replace "postal ballot" with "postal or electronic ballot". Replace "defense" with "defence".
8. Add section 6.10: "If any elected or co-opted committee member is absent from three consecutive
committee meetings without satisfying the committee that they have good cause, they may be deemed
to have resigned".

Please note the current procedure for constitutional amendments:

1. Conduct of the Ballot. Voting on amendments to the Constitution shall be conducted at a General
Meeting of the Society, but will include votes submitted by post.
2. Votes. Changes in the Constitution shall require the approval of two-thirds of those actually
voting, provided that the number voting be not less than fifteen percent of the membership.

These amendments will be put to a vote at the Society AGM at Goldsmiths on April 2nd 2014. You
also have the option to vote by post, using the ballot paper which is being sent out with the Q,
and the Committee strongly encourages you to do so.

Postal votes should be sent to the Secretary at the address below, with AISB BALLOT written on the
envelope, to arrive by Monday March 31st 2014.

Dr Rodger Kibble, Secretary of the AISB, Department of Computing, Goldsmiths University of London,
