CFP: Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing SIBGRAPI 2007
CALL FOR PAPERS
XX Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing
Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil
October 7-10, 2007
www.inf.pucminas.br/sibgrapi2007
The Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing,
SIBGRAPI 2007, will be held on October 7-10, 2007, in Belo Horizonte, Minas
Gerais. SIBGRAPI is the most important Brazilian meeting in Computer
Graphics, Image Processing, and Computer Vision. Started in 1988 with the
sponsorship of the Brazilian Computer Society, this will be its 20th
edition. IEEE CS Press has published the proceedings of SIBGRAPI since
1997. All full papers are blindly reviewed by three experts in the topic
of the work and the acceptance rate is about 30% of the submitted papers.
We would like to encourage the attendees of ICCV'07 and ISMM'07 to extend a
few days of their trip and participate of SIBGRAPI'07. In 2007, we will
have a special session in Medical Imaging as an important application area
for Computer Graphics, Image Processing and Computer Vision. As invited
speakers, we have so far the following confirmation:
* Dr. Fernando Cendes (Leader of the CinAPCe-FAPESP program for research
in neuroscience, Associate Professor of the Dept. of Neurology, Faculty of
Medical Sciences, State University of Campinas).
* Dr. Jayaram K. Udupa (One of the pioneers in Medical Imaging, Full
Professor and Chief of the Medical Image Processing Group, Dept. of
Radiology, University of Pennsylvania)
* Dr. Leif Kobbelt (Professor and Head of Computer Graphics Group at RWTH
Aachen, Germany)
* Dr. Luciano Fontoura (Head of the Instrumentation and Informatics Group
(IFSC-USP) and Cybernetic Vision Research Group (IFSC-USP)
* Dr. Luiz Velho (Full Researcher at IMPA and Leading Scientist of the
VISGRAF Laboratory)
* Dr. Max Viergever (Editor-in-chief of IEEE TMI and Professor and Head of
the Department of Medical Imaging at Utrecht University)
We have also submitted the co-sponsorship of IEEE for SIBGRAPI 2007.
We cordially invite you to participate by submitting your work in all
areas of Computer Graphics, Image Processing and Computer Vision,
including but not limited to the following topics:
1. AI in Computer Vision Graphics
2. Hardware
3. Non-Photorealistic Rendering
4. Animation and Simulation
5. Image Analysis

Contributions should be in one of the following categories:
* Full Papers: scheduled as oral presentations and published in the
Proceedings as two-column, 8-page papers, in English. Submission will be
electronic. IEEE CS Press will publish proceedings and selected papers
will be published in specialized journals.
* Technical Posters: special session and published as two-column, 2-page
papers, in English.
* Tutorials: about classical or timely topics, from elementary to
advanced, consisting of three to six hours of lectures with printed notes
(20-30 pages), in Portuguese or English.
* Workshop of Theses and Dissertations: PhD and MSc students may submit
their ongoing work in English or Portuguese, to be evaluated for
presentation. We expect this to be an unique opportunity for graduate
students to receive important feedback on their work from the scientific
community.
* Workshop of Undergraduate Work: undergraduate students are encouraged
to submit the results of their scientific works in English or Portuguese,
to be evaluated for presentation.
