DEADLINE FOR PAPER SUBMISSION: DECEMBER 31st, 2006

DESCRIPTION:
The 12th International Congress of Stereology, ICS XII, will be held at 
the Centre de Congrs  in 
Saint-Etienne, France.
The conference will focus on *theoretical and applied aspects *of *Image 
Analysis and Stereology*, with a special emphasis on *Human aspects*: 
health, safety, quality.

Invited talks will also present the state of the art in research fields 
concerned with the conference topics. Papers are desired in - but not 
restricted to - the following topic areas:

*1. Fundamentals tools : *
* Stereology
* Geometrical and Topological tools: 2D and 3D shape factors, norms, 
metrics, gauges
* Discrete geometry
* Mathematical Morphology
* Main mathematical and physical transforms: Fourier, Karhunen-Love, 
Walsh-Hadamard, Wavelets, Time-Frequency
* Stochastic tools
* Texture evaluation
* Image enhancement
* 3D reconstruction
* Colour images
* Modelisation: human vision, non linear processing

*2. Applications : *
* Microstructures
* Materials
* Biology, Medical image processing
* Tomography, X-ray Scanner, PET-scan
* High Resolution Imaging in Remote Sensing
* Astronomy
* Night vision
* Vision, industrial control, real time aspects
* Secured traceability
* Electronic architectures

All paper submissions will be handled electronically through our online 
web submission system. The formatting of the papers (6_8 pages) should 
comply with the Image Analysis and Stereology (IAS) journal 
instructions.
Each paper will be reviewed by at least two members of the program
committee.

Authors of the best contributions, selected by the international 
advisory board will be invited to prepare extended versions of their 
papers for publication in a special issue (in "Image Analysis and 
Stereology")
