AIMS:
				   
Over the last decade or so Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), that was
only a few years ago a curiosity, has now started attracting the
interest of many researchers and practitioners around the globe.

This special issue will focus on recent advances in PSO, both in terms
of the understanding and the applications of the algorithm. The aim is
to attract papers on particularly innovative research, speculative
ideas, and novel applications that could act as seeds for PSO research
in its second decade. 


TOPICS:

Topics include (but are not limited to):

  Novel empirical and theoretical analyses of PSO population dynamics

  Innovative studies and algorithms for setting PSO parameters

  New adaptive and parameterless PSO

  Analyses and new proposals of social network topologies

  PSO for combinatorial and hierarchical search spaces

  Novel PSOs for dynamic problems, noisy functions, and multi-modal functions

  Advanced bare-bones/distribution-based PSOs

  Unconventional hybrids of PSO with other techniques

  Novel applications in engineering, biomedicine, clustering,
  classification, entertainment, finance, image and signal processing,
  graphics, computational intelligence and robotics.


DEADLINES:

Submission: 20 July 2007

First round of reviews: 1 November 2007

Tentative publication date: February/March 2008


HOW TO SUBMIT:

To submit a manuscript to this special issue, please use the
manuscript tracking system available at

  http://mts.hindawi.com/login.aspx 

You will need to register as an author before you can submit a
paper. Once, you have done that, log in into the system and click on
"Journal of Artificial Evolution and Applications". Then click on
"Author activities" and then on "Submit a new manuscript". Then tick
the four boxes (headed "Authors Contact Information", "Policy on
Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication", "Manuscript Preparation", "Open
Access") and click "Accept". You will be presented with a form where
you can enter title, etc. Under the drop down list "Special/Regular
Issue" please select "Particle Swarms: The Second Decade". The rest
should be self explanatory.

Journal of Artificial Evolution and Applications (JAEA) is a new
journal which aims at being a reference for all researchers and
practitioners who study the theory and application of methodologies
pertaining to Evolutionary Computation and related fields.

The journal has a prestigious advisory board including some of the
fathers of our field and an international editorial board of highly
visible and respected researchers led by an young and energetic editor
in chief (see http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jaea/editors.html).

JAEA has an open access publication policy, meaning that articles will
be freely available for all to download. The publisher will normally
charge a per-page fee in return. However, for this special issue such
FEES HAVE BEEN WAIVED.
